Robert E. Sage was born in Dayton, Ohio, on September 26, 1924, to the late Dit and Elizabeth Caton Sage. Â He passed away in Gonzales, Louisiana on July 12, 2022. Â He was a longtime resident of Hammond having lived in Woodbridge Subdivision for 50 years where he was well known and proud of his Christmas decorations. Â Robert was a parishioner of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, a proud World War II Navy veteran and played basketball for the Navy. Â He coached Little League sports for 30 years in New Orleans. Â Robert retired from Coca Cola Syrup Company in 1976, and was well known in Hammond having owned Karamel Korn and Corn Dog 7 in Hammond Square Mall. Â He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Sage (Mark Bukofsky), and Robert Earl Sage, II; grandchildren, Chantel Theriot (Jacques), Sean Leininger, and Robby Sage; and great grandchildren, Alexa Leininger, Amber Leininger, Ryan Theriot and Audrey DePhillips. Â He is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Anthoine Sage. Â Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until religious services at 12:30 p.m. Â Entombment will follow in Rose Memorial Mausoleum.
