Robert E. Sage was born in Dayton, Ohio, on September 26, 1924, to the late Dit and Elizabeth Caton Sage.  He passed away in Gonzales, Louisiana on July 12, 2022.  He was a longtime resident of Hammond having lived in Woodbridge Subdivision for 50 years where he was well known and proud of his Christmas decorations.  Robert was a parishioner of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, a proud World War II Navy veteran and played basketball for the Navy.  He coached Little League sports for 30 years in New Orleans.  Robert retired from Coca Cola Syrup Company in 1976, and was well known in Hammond having owned Karamel Korn and Corn Dog 7 in Hammond Square Mall.  He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Sage (Mark Bukofsky), and Robert Earl Sage, II; grandchildren, Chantel Theriot (Jacques), Sean Leininger, and Robby Sage; and great grandchildren, Alexa Leininger, Amber Leininger, Ryan Theriot and Audrey DePhillips.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Anthoine Sage.  Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until religious services at 12:30 p.m.  Entombment will follow in Rose Memorial Mausoleum.
