Robert Earl "Rab" Roberts, born January 4, 1944 in Natalbany, Louisiana to the late George Van and Claire Peter Roberts, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday January 15, 2019 in Tickfaw, Louisiana.
Rab is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Vickie Castjohn Roberts; Daughter and Son-in-law Ashley and Shane Chauvin; Daughter and Son-in-Law Kristen and Aaron Pedigo; Brother and Sister-in-law Charlie and Margaret Roberts; and Grandchildren Kallie Collins, Shelby Chapman, Layla Pedigo and Eli Pedigo.
Rab was a member of Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church. He proudly served in the United States Navy where he was Active Duty during Vietnam. After working for the Louisiana Highway Department for 2 years, he worked at, and retired from, DuPont after 35 years. While at DuPont, Rab also worked for TPSO as a patrolman for 8 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0258 in Springfield, Louisiana. He was also a Member, and Master Mason, of Livingston Lodge #160 in downtown Hammond, Louisiana and a 32° Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
Rab enjoyed anything outdoors, especially his horses, hunting, mechanics and boiling peanuts with friends and family. Anyone who knew Robert Earl knew that spending time with family, helping others, sharing stories, and watching westerns were a few of his must haves.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home 2000 N Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The Visitation will continue at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Mass begins at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Mt. Stevens Red Hill Cemetery in Hammond Louisiana.
