Robert Anthony Bouterie, age 82, peacefully passed to the arms of his Heavenly Father on July 12, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Oral and Rita Bouterie. He attended Holy Cross High School , SLU and UNO , after which he served in the Air National Guard for seven years. He then joined the New Orleans Fire Department. Known as "Captain Boo", he found a brotherhood of firefighters, always looking out for "his men". He retired after nearly 20 years of dedicated service. Soon after retiring he found the perfect niche, that of tax preparer..firemen, policemen, commercial fishermen and nurses all became more like family than clients. Bob was a great salesman with the "gift of gab" and could argue his way out of anything, from tickets to court proceedings to selling ice to an Eskimo. For his birthdays we roasted him at 60, toasted and karaoked him at 70 and rightfully assigned him the "Rambling Gambling Man" at 80. He was a one-of-a-kind, broke-the-mold guy that truly believed it was important to give more than what you take. He loved deer hunting and fishing with his "sons" and friends , playing cards and a trip to the casino now and then. He was a patriot who proudly wore his Trump hat. Bob wanted to be remembered as a faithful husband, loving father and grandfather, and "one hellava" tax man.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Donna Bouterie; children, Rachél Johnson (Doug), Allyson Lipari (Ricky), Ryan Bouterie (Jennifer); also Jennifer Buckley (Anthony), daughter-in -law, Renee Bouterie; mother-in-law, Gloria Davis; eight beautiful grandchildren; and loving extended family.
Preceding him in death are his son, Sean Thomas Bouterie; and parents, Oral and Rita Bouterie.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family thanks all those for their prayers, messages of condolences and support during this difficult time, and to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home for their assistance with arrangements.
