Robert G. "Bob" Barrilleaux, of Roseland, Louisiana, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born on December 22, 1945, in Beaumont, Texas, the son of the late Willie Brad Barrilleaux and the late Ethel Ford Barrilleaux Dalton. Bob was a pilot in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He attended SLU and LSU and received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Bob received his master's degree in environmental engineering from Tennessee Institute of Technology. In his unique fashion, Bob dedicated his master's thesis to all the Gram-negative bacteria that was essential in his research. In 1978, Bob started his land surveying and engineering business Barrilleaux & Associates which was in operation until 2022. Bob loved flying and was a flight instructor at Hammond Airport for many years. He was also a phenomenal cook and had many coveted personal recipes. Bob lived a full and interesting life always with a thirst for knowledge and a spirit of eccentricity.
Bob is survived by his fiancée, Nita R. Gorrell; sons, Robert Clay Barrilleaux (Marjorie), Robert Justin Ford Barrilleaux, and Robert Blake Barrilleaux (Traci); grandchildren, Robert Alexander, Christina Arianna, Sasha Alana, Robert Oliver, Rys Owen, Eva Laverne, Logan Blake, and Asher Justice Barrilleaux; brother, Clay Joseph Barrilleaux (Ethel); Robert Clay's mother, Florence Hinkson Wilkie; Robert Justin and Robert Blake's mother, Keri Harper Wickham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, James Roger Barrilleaux.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 7:30 pm, with Robert Clay Barrilleaux officiating. In honor of Bob's 40 years of professional service as an engineer and surveyor, anyone attending that has a professional seal (engineer, lawyer, notary, etc) is invited to place your seal and signature in his register book at the funeral.
At a later date, Bob will be buried at sea according to his wishes.
