Robert M. Babcock

Robert M. Babcock, age 77, of Loranger, LA, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Hutchison, Kansas to Maurice and Georgianna Babcock on October 8, 1946.  Robert was a child of the military and traveled all over the U.S.  He married Virginia Ditta on June 21, 1969, in Algiers, LA.  Robert proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a E-9 Master Chief for 29 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Virginia "Jenny" Babcock; one son, Blaine Babcock (Melissa); five grandchildren, Larry Gomien (Jennifer), Mallory Lindy-Law (Rodney), Beau Lindy (Kayla), Taylor Babcock, and Vivian Gangi (Anthony). He also leaves behind to cherish his memory seven great-grandchildren and two great-nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Maurice and Georgianna Babcock; and his precious great-grandson, Maverick Allison.
Family and friends are invited to attend services on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m.  Entombment will follow in St. Dominic Catholic Church Mausoleum in Husser, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital and/or the Shriner's Hospital.
