Rita Mae Matherne Perrin

Rita Mae Matherne Perrin, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at the age of 99. She was born on November 7, 1921, in Raceland, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Cyprian Matherne and Cornelia Grabert Matherne. Rita was past president with the American Legion Auxiliary for the state of Louisiana in 1975 and was very active with them for many years.

Rita is survived by her children, James Perrin, Jr. (Lois), Beverly Langridge (Joseph), John Perrin (Carol), Kathryn Rodreick (Bill), Danny Perrin (Treela), and Ronnie Perrin (Anita); 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, James Amos Perrin, Sr.; great grandson, Jordan Mitchell; great great granddaughter, Riley Wainwright; and brothers and sister, Layton, Cleveland and Ethel.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 8:30 am until 10:30 am.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Monday at 11:00 am, with Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina officiating.

Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
