Richard John Eleser Sr.

Richard John Eleser Sr., age 93, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020, at his residence. He was born on Sunday, May 23, 1926, in Wadesboro, Louisiana, the son of the late Louis Peter Eleser Sr. and the late Susie Robbins Eleser.

He was a Life Member of the Ponchatoula Volunteer Fire Department with more than 55 years of service. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and a Past President of the Ponchatoula Rotary Club. Richard loved his family and spending time at his camp on the Tangipahoa River. He will be sadly missed.

Richard is survived by his wife of 75 years, Dotsy Meyers Eleser, daughter, Lana J. Eleser, son & daughter-in-law, Reginald "Reggie" and Linda S. Eleser, grandchildren, Braville LeBlanc, Dawn Brooks, Lisa Luther, Rodney Eleser, Scarlet Morris, Gator Eleser and Byron Eleser; 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and brothers, Louis "L.P." Eleser, Jr. and Carey Simon Eleser.

He was preceded in death by his son, Richard "R.J." Eleser, Jr., daughter, Virgie Eleser LeBlanc, brother, Douglas Eleser, and sisters, Joyce Perrin, Lois Drury, and Deanna Piediscalzo.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula , 100 W. Magnolia St. Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 8:00 am until 11:00 am.

Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, March 12, 2020  at 11:00 am, with Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P. officiating.

Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery Mausoleum in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
