Rhonda Blackwell Cowart

Rhonda Blackwell Cowart passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 70. She was born on Thursday, July 12, 1956 in Amite, Louisiana to the late Nettie and Harold Blackwell, Sr. She was a resident of Independence, Louisiana.

Rhonda was a devoted wife, loving mother, selfless grandmother, and faithful friend. She had a heart for others and was always willing to give of herself to care for and encourage those she loved. Her family was one of her greatest joys, and she treasured the opportunity to love and pour into her children and grandchildren. Above all, Rhonda was a woman of faith who loved the Lord and sought to serve Him through the way she lived and cared for others. Her love, kindness, and faithful example have left a lasting impact on the lives of those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Rhonda is survived by her husband, Harvey Cowart; children, Laremy Cowart (Ruby) and Julie Jones (Matt), grandchildren, Lydia Cowart, Carly Jo Stromeyer (Brandon), Kelsey, Caleb, Isabella , Paisley, Jack and Westlyn Jones, siblings, Jennifer Cunningham (Don), Joey, Gerald (Krista) and Brandon (Brandy) Blackwell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Justin and Justis Cowart

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Friday, October 16, 2026, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 9:00 am until services begin at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in Hutchinson Cemetery-Albany.
