Rebecca Ann Whitten Dupuy

Rebecca Ann Whitten Dupuy, "Becky Ann", "Grandmother", "GG", went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:50pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022.  She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana September 26, 1944, and she lived in Baton Rouge, Prairieville, and Ponchatoula during her lifetime.  Rebecca was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and devoted her time to teaching Sunday School and working with youth during retreats and mission trips.  Rebecca was an employee of Dow Chemical and worked in their accounting division.  Rebecca never had children of her own, but she invested much time and love in her young Ory cousins, Tiffany, Angie, Kate, and Ben.  They lovingly referred to her as "Becky Ann" or "Becannie".  Becky Ann proudly told everyone that she helped Richie and Beverly raise their four children.  Rebecca's beloved husband, Ronnie, shared his four grandsons with her.  Jordan, Caleb, Christopher, and Luke called her "Grandmother".  Rebecca's youngest grandchildren were her "greats",  Ellen Paige and Lillian Mae.  She was their "GG", and she said that stood for Great Grandmother.  Rebecca was known for having a tender heart for animals, both wild and domestic.  Her family was proud of her volunteer work as a docent at the Baton Rouge Zoo and her readiness to adopt any needy dog or cat.  Rebecca lived out the words of Acts 20:35, "Remember the words of the Lord Jesus Christ how he said 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " Her generosity was, and is, a shining example of her generous heart.  Rebecca Ann Dupuy was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald R. Dupuy, her father, Charles Henry Whitten, her mother, Rebecca Core Whitten, her sister, Cholly Fay Whitten, a brother-in-law, Ron T. Beasley, and her cousin, Richard "Richie" Edward Ory.    Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 West Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, LA on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 11:00 a.m.  to  1:00 p.m.  followed by a service at  1:00 p.m. .  Honorary pallbearers are Hilton Hoover, Bob Alello, Daniel Breshears, Scott McKernan, and Mikey Thaller.  Pallbearers are Ben Ory, Caleb McKernan, Jordan Dupuy, Caleb Dupuy, Christopher Dupuy, Luke Dupuy, Rico Rogers, and Carl Wilson.   The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.  The love and support given to our loved one was a beautiful gift to her and to all of us.
