Raymond Alvin Dietz peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on November 5, 2022. He is together again with his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley Lee Dietz. He was born in Loup City, Nebraska on January 29, 1936 to Walter and Edna Appel Dietz and is the ninth child of twelve children. Raymond was 86 years old and a resident of Ponchatoula, La.

Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955. He retired as a locksmith from Hammond State School and later became a school bus driver for the Tangipahoa Parish School Board.

We will remember his generous heart and his selfless dedication to his family and friends. Raymond is loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by a son, Reginald Raymond (Reggie) Dietz.  Daughters; Kimberly D. Murray (Terry), and Ramona Tara’ Dietz Umbach (Rickey).  Sisters; Rowena Dietz Bosle, and Ruby Dietz Schade.  Grandchildren; Whitni D. Summerlin, Taylor D. Cain, Kristen Murray, Ethan Murray, Ryan Umbach, and Seth Umbach.  Also, five great grandchildren and one great grandchild expected in January.  Brother in law and sister in law, Grady Lee (Deborra).  Sisters in law; Shirley M. Lee, Faye H. Lee, and many nephews, nieces, and extended family.

Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lee Dietz.  Parents; Walter and Edna Appel Dietz.  Sisters; Ruth D. Taylor, Reva D. Adams, Roberta D. Bennett, Roella D. Dougherty, and Renae’ D. Stark.  Brothers; Richard Dietz, Ronald Dietz, Russel Dietz, and Ross Dietz.  Father and Mother in law, Theodore and Mary Lewis Lee.  Sisters in law; Barbara Lee Sunseri (Louis), Bertha Lee Rainey (Dudley).  Brothers in law; Leslie Lee (Geneva), Henry Lee, Joe Lee, and Dwight Lee.

Services will be in Hammond Thursday, November 10, 2022.

Harry Mckneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Blvd. Hammond, La. is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Dr. David Cranford, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula will conduct the religious service at 1:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Noah Cemetery,  Reid Road Husser, La.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Interim Healthcare Hospice of Mandeville, La. for the special care and attention given to their father.
