Ray A. Hutchinson

Ray A. Hutchinson, 91, of Springfield, Louisiana, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on September 17, 2022. He was born August 21, 1931, the son of the late Alfred and Lula McKinney Hutchinson.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. Upon return, he worked as a pipefitter with the Local Union 198 and carpenter with the Local Union 1098. Ray was a faithful believer and longtime member of Blood River Church of God in Springfield. He adored any time spent with his family and beloved cat, Buttons. He was a one-of-a-kind, passionate, hardworking, dedicated farmer who took great pride in his abundance of crops. Friends and family often gathered for “coffee time” at 9AM and 3PM where stories were shared, and memories made.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, June Breeland Hutchinson; son, Dwight Hutchinson and wife Susie; daughter, Angela Varnado and husband Bill; four grandchildren, Clint Winburn (Lacy), Nadine Robin (Paul), Nicole Wall (Luke), Jessica Puissegur (Nick Archer); and ten great grandchildren, Payton Bonvillian, Kathrine, Claire, and Zachary Robin, Daniel, Bailey, and Noah Wall, Braylon Varnado, Ally and Macy Puissegur; honorary great grandchildren Kye and Kolston Archer; and his three sisters, Shirley Wall (Gene), Marie Childers (Rodney), and Sue Gasperecz (Johnny), as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Emily Winburn Robichaux and Alan Varnado; and brothers Roy and Gene Hutchinson.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

Visitation will continue at Harry McKneely & Son - Ponchatoula on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am, with Pastor John Wincapaw officiating.

Interment will follow at Carter Cemetery in Springfield, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Paul Robin, Luke Wall, Daniel Wall, Clint Winburn, Bret Gasperecz, and Nick Archer.
