Raphael “Ray” Edward Bordelon

Raphael “Ray” Edward Bordelon, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. Born in Bordelonville, Avoyelles Parish, he was the son of the late Lee and Daisy Bordelon.

Ray graduated from LSU in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He and his first wife, Louisette Schuyten Bordelon, moved from Metairie to Hammond in 1971, where he founded his own CPA practice and dedicated over 50 years to serving his clients and community.

Ray’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his five children, Lisa (Ed) Burns, Jeff (Molly) Bordelon, Lori Davis, David Bordelon, and Hart (Noelle) Bordelon. He was a proud grandfather to Brittany Pellichino, Natalie Umbach, Caroline Pinon, and Hannah Samrow, as well as Anne and Trent Burns, Megan Davis, and Andrew and Holly Bordelon. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and grand dogs.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louisette Bordelon, his siblings Doris Brenckle, Harold Bordelon, Lloyd Bordelon, and Leonard Bordelon, and is survived by his sister Lynette Nolan of Prairieville, LA.

Ray shared a long and meaningful companionship with Bobbie Smith, who was a beloved partner and close friend.

Known for his warmth, generosity, and humor, Ray loved cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. A passionate fan of LSU and the New Orleans Saints, he cherished game days spent cheering for his teams.

Ray served his community as past president of the Hammond Rotary Club and was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Louisiana State Society of CPAs. His final years were marked by the exceptional care and compassion of Donna Anthony and Laura Thomas, for which the family is deeply grateful.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 8:45 am until 10:45 am.

Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.

Ray’s life was defined by love, laughter, and devotion to those around him. He gave without expecting anything in return and never asked for more than he needed. He had a quiet way of showing up for people that meant everything. He will be remembered for his generosity, his commitment to family, and the joy he brought to everyone. Those who knew him will remember his gentle heart, his selfless spirit, and the depth of his love. His love was quiet but fierce - and we’ll carry it with us always.
