R. Wayne Matthews

R. Wayne Matthews, of Robert, Louisiana, passed away at his residence on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the age of 67. He was born on Wednesday, April 14, 1954, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of the late Robert S. Matthews and the late Patsy Welker Smith.

Wayne was an accomplished artist and specialized in bronze sculpting. He was one of a kind and made friends with everyone he met. He loved to cook and was the kind of man who was always quick to open the door for a lady. He will be sadly missed by all who knew who him.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Sherie Conder Matthews, daughter & son-in-law, Jordan and River Matthews, daughter, Jessica Clarke, step-son, Wayne Aaron Troia, step-daughter, Renee Marie Lester, brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Marlinda Matthews and brother Rod Matthews, and his sister and brother in law, Susan and Jay Jorgensen.

Family and friends will be received at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2503 Old Baton Rouge Hwy, Hammond, Louisiana 70403 on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 10:00 am until the Memorial Service begins at 11:00 am.
