Phyllis J. Smith

Phyllis J. Smith, age 72, of Loranger, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, surrounded by her family at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. She was born on Saturday, August 30, 1947, in Hammond, Louisiana, to Edward G. "Bumpy" and Elouise Joiner Jones. Phyllis enjoyed life and loved traveling, sports, going to the camp on the river, but she especially loved spending time with her family. 

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of almost 54 years, Ronald"Ron" W. Smith, her 3 sons Larry (Claudia), Bryan (Keri) and Errol (Shelley); 6 Grandchildren, Aaron Chapman (Margaret), Bryce Smith, Hayden Smith, Jennifer Dennis, Zachary Dennis (Danni) and Brianna Smith; 2 great grandchildren Clay and Ty Chapman, her brother, Larry "Pete" Jones (Jerrilyn), sister, Joy Jones, and brother in law, Denver Hollars, also, many other loving relatives and close friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward G. "Bumpy" and Elouise Joiner Jones, and her sister, Florence Adele Jones. 

A Visitation for Phyllis will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. A Funeral Service Celebrating Phyllis' life will immediately follow Saturday's visitation at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula.
