Peter Lawrence "Larry" Fos, Jr.

Peter Lawrence "Larry" Fos, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, on his 85th birthday in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He was born on June 14, 1937 (Flag Day) in New Orleans, the oldest of five children, to the late Ruth Carbo and Peter Fos, Sr. Larry was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before moving to Ponchatoula after Hurricane Katrina.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, June Fraychineaud Fos; children, Denise Pellittieri (Sal Jr.), Peter Fos III (Debbie), and John Fos (Wanda); grandchildren, Katie Daher (Joseph), Amy Fleming (Shawn), Amanda Pellegrin (Dustin), Sal Pellittieri III (Samantha), Jessica Gray (Heath), Shane Fos, and Blaire Fos; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Kenzie, Thomas, Grayson, Patrick, Samuel, Ethan, Lyana, Luke, and one “little Fleming pelican” on the way; siblings, Gaynell Bourgeois (Irwin), Joann Constance (Steve), Don Fos, and Dennis Fos (Debbie); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Larry proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He found his calling in life as an insurance agent, working for over 37 years at National Life and Accident Insurance Company/ American General Life. Larry was also a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School class of 1959.

Always ready with a joke and a smile, Larry had a zest for life. He enjoyed traveling, camping with numerous RV groups, playing a good game of cards, square dancing, and spoiling his grandkids and great-grandkids. Larry found so much enjoyment in playing the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus for numerous groups and organizations. He believed in finding that glass half full in any situation, and he filled his life with friends, family, and any stranger willing to strike up a good conversation.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Josephine and Johnny Fos and Louise and Nicholas Carbo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for a celebration of his life at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, June 18, 2022, beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM. A funeral mass will follow at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 30300 Catholic Hall Road, Hammond, Louisiana 70403, beginning at 12:00 PM.

Interment will follow in Rosaryville Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to North Oaks Hospice in Larry's name. They also ask that donations be made to local blood centers to help people like Larry. He would always thank blood donors whenever he could.
