Pearl Rita Dugas Hebert

Pearl Rita Dugas Hebert passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 84. She was born on Thursday, August 13, 1936 in Lafayette, Louisiana to the late Luda Gautreaux and the late Arista Dugas. She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.

Pearl was born in the cajun heartland, Lafayette, LA.  She cherished her cajun heritage and all that it’s culture had to offer. She worked as a nurse for many years following her natural instinct of caring for others.  She was also an advocate for the March of Dimes and the goal of improving maternal and child health in communities.   She enjoyed cooking, gardening and being outdoors.   Her love for her family was unmeasurable and unquestionably the driving force in her life.  She was admired by those around her as a person of unparalleled courage who’s determination is one of legends.  Her modesty led her to be a quiet hero who never sought praise or attention for the kindness she showered upon others. She was the beacon and shining light of her family and will be greatly missed.  Her legacy continues on as she has left an everlasting imprint on her family and those around her.

Pearl is survived by her children, Cheri Cloud (Joe), Kim Sibille (Mark), Kerry Balado, Glynn Hebert, Jr. (Kellie), Kelly Mizell (Yuan), and Kathy Willis (Shane); grandchildren, Jennifer Poehlsen (Thomas), Corey Cloud (Cayce), Michelle Senechalle (Luke), Josh Cloud (Kate), Savanna Balado, Sydney Waller (Nathan), Madison Mizell, Lexie Hebert, Kiera Mizell, Hayden Mizell, Skye Willis, and Raine Willis; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel, and Noah Poehlsen, Claire Cloud, and Ivory Mizell, sister, Hazel Saucier; sisters-in-law, Jackie Hebert and Zula Dugas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arista Dugas; her mother, Luda Gautreaux; and her siblings, Earl Dugas and Mary Margaret Dugas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula, 255 N 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Saturday, March 13, 2021, beginning at 1:30pm.
