Pearl Guilbeau Peterson

Pearl Guilbeau Peterson, formerly of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022 in Hammond, Louisiana at the age of 98. She was born on July 23, 1923, in Golden Meadow, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Gustave Joseph Guilbeau and Blanche Terrebonne Guilbeau. Pearl was raised in Golden Meadow and always dreamed of becoming a nurse. She graduated from Charity School of Nursing and worked at the original Prytania Ochsner Clinic, as well as other New Orleans area hospitals, finishing her nursing career as a public health nurse and nursing supervisor.  

Pearl is survived by her son, Glynn "Jim" Peterson; daughter, Debbie O'Reilly and husband Dev; granddaughter, Jamie Alfonso and husband Bobby; great grandchildren, Jena Alfonso, Robert Alfonso, Jr., and Nicholas Alfonso; sister, Luna Eymard; and nieces and nephews, David Eymard, Arlene Barefoot, Phillip Eymard, Bernadette Trevino, Pamela Guilbeau, Penny Guilbeau, Preston Guilbeau and Patty Torres.

In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, James "Pete" Peterson; great grandson, Matthew Alfonso; siblings, Gustave "G.J." Guilbeau, Jr., Malcolm Guilbeau, and Connie Guilbeau; and brother-in-law, Orleans Eymard.

Services will be held privately. Family and friends are encouraged to send condolences and share memories online.

Pearl will be placed with her husband at Lake Lawn Mausoleum in Metairie, Louisiana.

Pearl was a very kind person, willing to give anything she could to those in need.  In lieu of flowers, do something special for someone in need, in Pearl's name.  Also, donations may be made in Pearl's memory to the American Heart Association at heart.org or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at lls.org.
