Paul Anthony Lamonica, known to everyone as "Chimp", passed away gently on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 67, with his family by his side. He was born on Wednesday, November 26, 1958 in Independence, Louisiana to the late Susie Maniscalco Lamonica and the late Joe Marion Lamonica. He was a resident of Independence, Louisiana. Paul retired from the State Department of Elections, where he worked in voters registration.
Paul is survived by his brother & sister-in-law, John Lamonica (Lota); special aunt, Bessie Whiddon; cousins, Marie Vicknair, Joann Oliver, Paula Matthews (Raymond), Joe Phillips (Kathy), Tony Maniscalco (Rhonda), Larry Maniscalco, Glenn Maniscalco Brecheen, Lynn Maniscalco, Flora Messina (Mario), Henry Lamonica (Janice) and Margie Evans; friends, Ronnie Garafola, Tom Burling (Sandra), Anthony Lapuma, Robbie Vicknair and Andree Sterling.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his cousins, Henry Lamonica and Salvador Phillips.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Graveside Service at Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum, Highway 51, Independence, Louisiana 70443, on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11:00 am.
