Paul L. Billingsley

Paul L. Billingsley, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away at North Oaks Medical Center on Monday, December 21, 2020, at the age of 75. He was born on November 26, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Earl J. Billingsley and Alvera Mae Peterson Billingsley. Paul moved from Pennsylvania to Louisiana nearly 50 years ago and practiced law here for over 44 years. He was a lifelong runner and was a regular in the Crescent City Classic for decades. He was a pilot and loved being in the clouds, and played an instrumental role in the expansion of the Hammond airport. In later years, he spent his free time Airstream camping with his wife and their dog, Lucy. His numerous passions and interests included reading, music, flying, sailing, traveling, singing, playing the guitar, enjoying good food, and using puns. Paul had an unshakeable optimism and you could always count on him to find the silver lining. He appreciated the good in everyone, was always ready to lend a hand, and celebrated the successes and achievements of others as much as his own. Paul loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves them with countless precious memories.

Paul is survived by his wife, Louise Anne "Luanne" Davis Billingsley; daughters, Janet Lynne Billingsley and Kristin Billingsley McLellan (Jim); stepsons, Shawn A. McKee and Wilson Alvarez (Josef); grandson, John Paul Toney; granddaughters, Jordan Paige Braswell and Drew Avery McKee; sisters, Betty Ann Billingsley Bennett (Leland) and Jean Ellen Billingsley Sansonetti (Craig); and brother, David James Billingsley (Judy).

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Sunday, December 27, 2020, from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

A Memorial Service will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Hammond on Sunday at 6:00 pm.

Face masks are mandatory to attend any visitation or service at the funeral home and we ask that you maintain a respectful distance with the family. Thank you for your cooperation.
