Paul Joseph Girard

Paul Joseph Girard Jr., 92 years old of Hammond, Louisiana passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve, Louisiana. He was born on February 6,1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Paul was retired from the New Orleans Fire Department and then State National Life Insurance Co. Paul was a WWII Navy Veteran, having toured in the South Pacific from 1943-1945.

He is survived by his son, William Glen (Andrea) Girard; daughters, Kathy (Rolly) Bruce, Lorinda (Ronnie) Gourgeot Sr.; son, Paul (Phillis) Girard III; brother, Ronald (Rose) Girard; and sister-in-law, Billie Girard;

grandchildren, Rolly Ann (Herman) Smith, Ronnie (Michelle) Gourgeot, Jr., Jim (Melissa) Picou, Keri Girard, Kyle (Alisa) Picou, Ryan (Sara) Gourgeot, Sr., Paul (Christina) Girard ,IV, Russell (Kelly) Gourgeot, Whitney (Colby) Tyler; great grandchildren, Amber Smith, Brenna Gourgeot, Maria Gourgeot, Claire Gourgeot, Alex Picou, Anna Gourgeot, Natalie Gates, Braden Moore, Ali Girard, Trey Gourgeot, Ava Picou, Konnor Burkes, McKenzie Girard, Ryan Gourgeot ,Jr., Ella Maxine Picou and Charlie Rose Tyler; and great-great granddaughter; Sierra Ladner.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maxine Sanchez Girard; his parents, Louisa De Wenter and Paul Girard Sr.; brother, Albert Girard; grand daughter, Wendy Gourgeot; and great granddaughter, Brooke Weiskopf.

Friends will be received at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hammond, LA on Saturday December 22, 2018 from 9:00 am till religious services at 11:00 am conducted by Pastor Louis Boldt. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Hammond, and the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve, Louisiana.
