Ounida Fay Allemont, who loved to be called "Momma" by her kids, departed her loving family on October 11, 2022.

Ounida Fay was born in Lincoln County, Mississippi on January 9, 1938 to Edna and Levy Mathis.

Ounida was a mother to Rebecca, Daniel, Donald, Debra and Sharon.  She raised her children with love and devotion.

In her long career as a working mom, she held numerous jobs such as seamstress at Velmy Garment Factory, a caregiver at Hammond State School, nursing homes and as a private sitter.  She also had many side jobs such as newspaper routes, election poll watcher, etc. One of the jobs, she was most proud of was being a "Granny" at Springfield Elementary School.  

Ounida never dwelled on anything negative.  She chose to look on the bright side of things.  She lovingly greeted her relatives and was known for her good natured acceptance of everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Allemont; daughters, Rebecca, Sharon; and her son, Daniel.

She is survived by her children, Donald and Debra along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Services will be officiated by Pastor John Wincapaw and interment will follow in Carter Cemetery in Springfield.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home.
