Oswald Dewitt "Dickie" Johnson

Oswald Dewitt "Dickie" Johnson, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on January 5, 1939, in Hammond, Louisiana, the son of the late Oswald Browning Johnson and Mae Etta Galender Johnson. Dickie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired Deputy Sheriff serving the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Department for 20 years. He enjoyed the river community on Bedico Creek and the Tangipahoa River. Dickie spent time on the water with family and friends fishing and barbecuing. He also loved sports and watching the Saints and LSU play. Dickie was a remarkable character with a joy for living and he will be dearly missed. 

Dickie is survived by his sons, Brad Johnson and Britt Johnson and his wife Daronda; brother, Douglas Johnson and his wife JoAnn; sisters-in-law, Annette Johnson and Cita Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dickie was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Ann "Kathy" Delaune Johnson; brothers, Bryan "Butch" Johnson and Clarence Johnson; and nephew, Brett Johnson.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am, with Bro. Steven Campbell officiating.

Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Tickfaw, Louisiana.

Pallbearers are Brad Johnson, Britt Johnson, Shayne Johnson, Bo Johnson, Cody Johnson, and Blain Johnson.
