Norma Bardwell Roby

Norma Bardwell Roby passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, at the age of 94.  She was born on Thursday, October 4, 1928, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana to the late Emmett Bardwell and Ella Fry.  She was a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, and a member of First Baptist Church in Pearl River, Louisiana. Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Roby Cappel (Harvey “Dickie”); son, Ellis “Joey” Joseph Roby Jr. (Laura); grandchildren, Bryan Cappel (Erin), Kyle Cappel, Melinda Muscenti (Mark), Jessica Walker (Richmond); great-grandchildren, Jack, Benjamin, Stella, Zoe, Dakota, Anthony, and Carter; and sister, Sylvia Roby.

In addition to her parents, Norma was also preceded in death by her husband, Ellis J. Roby; sisters, Elsie Moss, Louise Jacobsen, Bernice Palermo, Myrtle Bennett, Violet Crane, and Nellie Foster, and brother, Robert Bardwell.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Cooper Cemetery in Robert, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Pearl River, Louisiana, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
