Norma Lee Kinchen Purvis

Norma Lee Kinchen Purvis, surrounded by her loving family, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the age of 92.  She was born to Louis and Florence Kinchen on July 20, 1930, in Albany, Louisiana.  Norma was a graduate of Albany High School and married her one and only love, Harold Edward Purvis on  August 21, 1948.  He passed away September 12, 2017.  She was a selfless wife, mother, and homemaker always thinking of others in place of herself.

Harold and Norma, married 69 years, is survived by their adoring children, Pamela Jean Reid and husband Robert, Lester Harold Purvis, Rodney Kevin Purvis and wife Charlene, and Shane Allen Purvis and wife Krystal; 9 precious grandchildren, Dana and Jason Purvis, Lindsay Purvis Parmer, Paige Purvis Poe, Megan Purvis, Rob and Aaron Reid, Rocky, Colton and Tyler Purvis; as well as 10 sweet great grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers, Henry Kinchen and Don Kinchen and his wife Elaine, and a sister, Donna Kinchen.

She loved to travel and attend church functions with her husband.  She was a compassionate caregiving lady and made lasting connections with her church families in the many congregations for which they attended.  Norma was considered both a mother and grandmother to many across the country.  She will forever be missed by all who came into her life.

Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, January 30, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until funeral services at 2:00 p.m.  Officiants will be Rodney Smith and Tony Samons.  Interment will be in Oak Grove Church of God Cemetery.
