Nick Martin

Nick Martin passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at home, in Hammond, LA, at the age of 52. He was born on Friday, February 20, 1970, in Hammond, Louisiana to Suzan Monic and the late George O. Martin. Nick was a sweet and generous man, as well as an amazing husband and father. He was an avid history buff and took his wife on a first date to the Renaissance Faire. He was a black belt in jiu-jitsu and even taught his daughter and others self-defense. Nick loved heavy metal, and played bass in several local bands in the 90s and 2000s. He was a licensed massage therapist and co-owned Body Mind Spirit in Bocage Shopping center. He loved plants and animals, and he never turned away a hungry cat. He always took the time to pay attention to every one of his dozens of pets.

Nick is survived by wife, Jennifer Martin and his daughter, Rachel, his mother Suzan Monic and step-father Louis Monic, his uncles, Laramie Nyeki and his wife Crystal, and Mark Nyeki, Michael Brown, and Alton Martin.

He was preceded in death by father, George O. Martin; grandparents, Helen and Joe Nyeki and Dorothy and Murphy Martin; uncle, Joe Lee Nyeki; and his aunt, Helen Ann Brown.

Memorial services will be held at the Albany Hungarian Presbyterian Church, visitation at 12 pm, memorial service at 1 pm, Saturday, February 18.
