Nick Cashio

Nick Cashio, 93 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, joined our Lord in his eternal home, Monday, November 4, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 1st, 1926 in Garyville, Louisiana.  He served his country proudly in the US Army, WWII, “Hell On Wheels”, second armored division.  Nick retired 32 years from South Central Bell.His hobbies included fishing, restoration of his 1954 Chevrolet Truck and tending to his fruit orchard trees.  He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. 

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Nevels Cashio; daughter Sylvia Monistere; son-in-law Andrew Monistere; son-in-law Vincent Poche; three grandchildren,Christopher Poche, Nicholas Poche and Tyler Poche; nephews Nicholas Danny Cashio and wife Kristi Cashio; Charles Arthur and wife Darlene Cashio; and Joe Cashio and wife Beth Cashio; niece Pamela Cashio. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Antoinette Legoria Cashio; brothers Frank Cashio and Charles Anthony Cashio; wife Mildred Trapen. 

Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume Friday, November 8, 2019 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home from 9:00am until the Memorial Service officiated by Father Robert Merced, O.P. Pastor, at 11:00 am. Rosary will be held at 10:30 am.

Interment will follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.
