Morris Leon Felder, 89 of Ponchatoula was called to His Heavenly Home on Friday, January 6, 2017. He was born in Ponchatoula on Wednesday, February 23, 1927, to Roy L. Felder and Mattie Turnage Felder. Morris graduated from Ponchatoula High School then served in the United States Army for three years in Washington, DC. After serving in the Army, he settled down in Virginia for many years. Morris returned home to Louisiana, attended Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond. After graduating from college he began his career with Shell Refinery in Norco, transferring later to Shell Oil Company in New Orleans as an associate purchaser until he retired in 1985.
Morris was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponchatoula also an active member of the Knight's of Columbus in Ponchatoula. During retirement Morris volunteered for the Tangipahoa Voluntary Council on Aging Board, "Capital Area Agency on Aging Board" in Baton Rouge. Also, Morris volunteered with AARP Louisiana serving on their "State Legislative Committee" and "Capital City Task Force".
Family meant everything to him. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41-1/2 years, Maureen Breen Felder, and his 5 wonderful loving children, James E. Felder (Joanie), Daniel R. Felder (Karen), Michael L. Felder (Stephanie), Lois C. Felder Gordon and Morris L. Felder, Jr. (Kelly). Other special joys and loves of his life 12 grandchildren, Lauren, Beau (Laurie), Nikolas (Amy), Aaron (Kasey), Ann Beth (Ian), Dawn, Ashley, Erica, Brittany, William, Adysen and Madilyn, 14 great grandchildren, Lakin, Tyler, Cayden, Jackson, Eliza, Nikko, Madeline, Desirae', Jaszmyne, Austin, Cara, Skylar, Cade and Peyton, 3 great great grandchildren, Emmie, Eden and La'Trell, his 2 sisters, Mattie Louise Felder Ourso and Lynda L. Felder Simon, his brothers in law, Rev. Bernard J. Breen and James D. Breen, sister in law, Ann Marie Kenney and her husband Stanley, his former wife, Caryl Lois Avery and many Turnage, Felder, and Breen nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Morris is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Leon Felder and Mattie E. Turnage Felder, his sister, Ethel H. Felder Vicknair, his 2 infant brothers, Eugene Roy Felder and Roy Leon Felder and his brothers in laws, Richard Vicknair, Russell Ourso, Lester Simon and George M. Breen, Jr.
A Visitation for Morris will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 9:00am until 10:45am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Immediately following visitation we will proceed to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponchatoula for Morris' Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Officiating will be the Rev. Bernard J. Breen and Deacon Larry Melancon. Interment will follow in the Wetmore Cemetery in Ponchatoula.
