Mitchell J. Chappetta Sr.

Mitchell J. Chappetta Sr., age 67, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in Covington, Louisiana. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 04, 1957. Mitchell attended East Jefferson High School and was a member of the Airline Park crew. He got saved as a teenager and devoted his early life to the church. He was a youth pastor in Metairie and helped to guide and shape the lives of many wayward youths. In the early 90’s he moved his family to Florida and worked in the theme park business. He sold timeshare and theme park tickets and helped to expose his children to the magic of Disney World. Throughout his life, Mitch Chappetta was always known as the biggest kid in the room. He encouraged his kids to love the magic of the movies (a trait he inherited from his mother) and could often be heard quoting films in his normal vernacular. Mitch loved the outdoors. He grew up traversing the woods and swamp throughout Louisiana with his dad and brothers, friends, and later his son.  He loved hunting and fishing and being one with the wildlife outdoors. Over the course of his life, Mitch worked many jobs, from a car salesman, to insurance, to roofing, to adjusting…but his favorite job was always that of parent and grandparent. He loved being Papa Mitch.

He is survived by his children, Bethany Chappetta, Mitchell J. Chappetta Jr., Jessie Weidner and husband James Weidner; grandchildren, Kaiden Chappetta, Brielle Weidner, Zacc Conner, Riley Conner, Brody Conner, Hadley Conner, Ripley Conner, Michael Dean, Claire Dean, Blake Dean, Hannah Dean, Anthony Dean, Audrey Rhodes, Zoey Rhodes, Wesley Rhodes III, and Sydney Rhodes; sibings, Tim J. Chappetta and wife Brenda Chappetta, William J. Chappetta Jr. and wife Darlene Chappetta; nieces and nephews, Michelle Chappetta, Billy J. Chappetta III, Joshua J. Chappetta, Allen J. Chappetta, Lyndell Chappetta, Timmy J. Chappetta Jr.; and girlfriend, Cindy Blanche.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William J. Chappetta Sr. and Rosemary Chappetta.

Family will hold a Celebration of Life on September 21, 2024.
