Minos "Pete" Malcom Petry Jr.

Minos "Pete" Malcom Petry Jr., at the age of 80, returned to his heavenly home on February 5, 2022, after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Pete was born on January 4th, 1942, in Crowley, Louisiana to the late Minos M. Petry Sr. and Lillian Sarver Petry. Pete was blessed with a loving family he married his best friend, and soul mate Florence Guidry Petry, on July 10th, 1965, in Crowley, Louisiana. Pete helped raise his son, Charles Petry, with patience, discipline and humility. Pete was a minister for 45 years. During this time, he helped serve on the Church of God counsel, helped build churches, attended mission trips, served at youth camps, and continuously shared his big heart with everyone.

Pete is survived by his wife, Florence “Flo” Petry; his son, Charles Petry, and Lisa Maury, his granddaughter Alexis Petry; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine Fluitt, and Lucille Desselle, and his parents.

Pete’s service will be at Bedico Church of God, 28336 LA-22, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022.  Visitation will be from 9am - 11am, the service will begin at 11am. The burial service will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. A reception will follow the burial service at Bedico Church of God. Dr. Derwood Perkins and Reverend Derrick Jarell will officiate the services.
