Mildred "Millie" Alford Jones Braud

Mildred “Millie” Alford Jones Braud passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, in Mandeville, Louisiana, at the age of 80. She was born on Friday, April 26, 1940 in Spring Creek, Louisiana to the late Effie May Burch Alford Mixon and the late Buel Alford. She was a resident of Ponchatoula,  Louisiana.

Millie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jones Overmier and her husband Timmy Overmier; her grandchildren, Leslie Overmier, Christy Ford and her husband Willie Ford; and her great-grandchildren, Keaton Rivero, Karlie Ford, Skylar Ford, and Brant Palermo.

In addition to her parents, Millie was also preceded in death by her husband, Sydney "Pete" Braud; her first husband and father of her children, J.W. "Spike" Jones; her daughters, Beulah Alaine Jones and an infant daughter; numerous siblings, as well as their spouses; and numerous other close family members.

Services for Millie will be private.

Millie was a beloved mother, mother in law, grandma, and great grandma.  She loved spending time with all of us throughout the years until the day she left this earth.

For the most part she was a homemaker.  She loved cooking for the family.  She was a fabulous cook with everything she prepared.  Her hits with all the family were chicken and dumplings and cornbread and chicken dressing.

Millie gave her dedication to Pete (2nd husband).  She was always there for him as they battled his terminal illness.  She was there for his every need until he passed away in 2005. She stayed a widow for her remaining years.

She maintained her yard and home to perfection.  She finally had to give it up due to her noticeable signs of dementia. The end result of all our efforts was to move her to Heritage Manor in Mandeville.

As she became more comfortable with her surroundings on the memory unit, she befriended the ladies and men that worked with her.  She had excellent care from all the staff; past and present!  I am eternally grateful for all the employees that provided her with friendship, care, and love at this facility. Y’all made her comfortable until she was called to her eternal home!

I would like to also recognize St. Catherine Hospice.  They were a wonderful group of loving people.

Mom, you will never be forgotten by any of your family.  Until we meet again my angel - love from your one and only!  Me!
