Michael Raymond Mcgill

Michael Raymond McGill, passed away at his home in Hammond on Monday, April 25, 2022, at the age of 71. He was born on October 30, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of the late John McCandless McGill and Marilyn Stiles McGill Deich. Mike was a longtime resident of the New Orleans/Metairie area where he graduated from Loyola University, was a Sergeant for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department for over 20 years until his retirement, and a member of the Emerald Society of New Orleans. After moving to Hammond, Mike was a Captain for the University Police Department at Southeastern.

Mike is survived by his wife of 16 years, Mary Ann Dupuy McGill children, George McGill (Dorinda), Robert McGill (Amy), Alexander Athas (Holly), Christian Athas, and Peter Athas (Molly); grandchildren, Everly McGill, Drake Athas, Branson Athas, Elliott Athas, and Sophie Athas.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Yvonne and Edwin L. "Vic" Victoria; and brother, Pat McGill.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.

A Memorial Service will begin on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
