Michael Blance "Mike" Johnston

Michael Blance "Mike" Johnston, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 65. He was born on July 16, 1961, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mike loved watching football and listening to country music. He had a natural ability to connect with those around him and made friends everywhere he went. Mike will be missed dearly by everyone that knew him.

Mike is survived by his father, Ken Johnston; step mother, Doris Hoover Johnston; brother, Kenny Johnston; sister, Aimee Johnston (Buddy Brown); step brother, Paul Adams (Kim); and extended family, Derek Brown (Jennifer), Justin Brown (Adair), Erin Darden (Abe), Sean Adams, Kimberly Adams, and all of their families.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Gibson "Dippy" Flanakin Daniels; step father, Gene Daniels; and grandparents, Marion Kendall Johnston, Sr., Nona Burton Johnston, Blance Gibson "Mike" Flanakin, and Louise LeNoir Flanakin.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Ryan Lane, Lisa Witty, and the entire staff of STARC for their friendship and support over the years.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 11:00 am until the Funeral Service begins at 1:00 pm, with Reverend Katie Glass officiating.

Interment will follow at Stanga Cemetery in Bedico, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Lane, Tim Lawson, Dirk Van Duym, Hal Stricklin, Sam Hyde, and Clay Carter.
