Michael Joe Honsinger

Michael Joe Honsinger, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with rapidly progressing Parkinson’s disease on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on September 8, 1945, in San Francisco, California. Michael's life was marked by a deep sense of duty, love for the outdoors, and a commitment to his family and church. Michael served as a Radioman Second Class (RM2) aboard a wooden minesweeper ship, the USS Vigor, where he utilized Morse code and earned several awards for his service. His patriotic spirit shone brightly throughout his life, a testament to his unwavering pride in being an American. Michael worked for BellSouth where he started his career climbing utility poles and eventually became a regional director before retiring. In retirement, Michael joyfully pursued his passion for the outdoors. He fulfilled his longtime dream of traveling with friends across the Rocky Mountain region, where he enjoyed camping and fishing in the serenity of nature. He later returned to Louisiana to be closer to family. A devoted member of Maurepas Baptist Church, Michael found a welcoming community that further enriched his life. He was baptized there in February of 2024, a poignant moment that underscored his strong faith and his desire to follow Jesus. Michael was a loving and loyal man who will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
