Michael Guthrie Arnett passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 72. He was born on Thursday, December 21, 1950 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Shirley Guthrie Arnett and the late Alton Arnett. He was a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana.
Michael graduated from Mandeville High in 1969 before attending SLU for both his Bachelor's degree in 1973 and his Masters in 1978. Michael was a Flight Officer in the U.S. Navy, Attack Squadron 75, flying in A6E Intruder Attack Aircraft stationed aboard the USS Saratoga in the Mediterranean Sea and is Virginia Beach, VA from 1973 until 1977. After his military service, Michael retired from AT&T after 36 years from 1979 until 2015, where he worked in Baton Rouge, Laffayette, Covington, and Hammond.
Michael is survived by his brother, David Arnett and his wife, Danita; niece, Amber Arnett Matau; and nephews, Ben Arnett, Brad Arnett, Adam Arnett, and Matthew Arnett.
In addition to his parents, Michael was also preceded in death by his brother, Scott Arnett.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at Ponchatoula Cemetery on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM.
