Merriel Sanchez

Merriel Aliene Sanchez passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Landmark Nursing Home, at the age of 85. She was born on Sunday, April 28, 1940, the daughter of Daniel Allen Ezell and Matil Jarrel Ezell. She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana. Aliene was a deeply faithful woman and spent many years playing and teaching the piano, as well as, teaching adult Sunday school for her church. She believed in her heart that everyone is valuable and worthwhile in God's eyes.

Merriel is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Ricky Nathan Sanchez (Patricia); daughter, Rhonda Sanchez Davis; siblings, Lynwood Ezell (Dorothy), Darrell Ezell (Pallie Sue), and Dianne Ezell Easley; brothers-in-law, Keith Easley (Brenda), Paul Sanchez (Kathy), and Gilbert Mayeaux; grandchildren, Christopher Sanchez, Bridget Sanchez, Leslie Melerine, John McLin, Adam McLin, Jesse Davis and Stephen Davis, and her 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Sanchez, Jr.; daughter, Stephanie Kaye Sanchez; siblings, Annette Ezell Easley and Ronald Ezell; sisters-in-law, Barbara Ezell and Lois Mayeaux; and brother-in-law, Ray Easley; Son-in-law, Jack Davis
