Mattie Ruth Covington Jones

Mattie Ruth Covington Jones, of Walker, Louisiana, went home to be with the LORD at the age of age of 78 on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the Lodge at Tangi Pines where she was a resident since December, 2021. She was born on Wednesday, April 19, 1944, in Walker, Louisiana where she was also raised. Mattie was a simple woman who loved to cook and bake, using recipes she learned from her mother. She also loved  Red Oak Church, having her funeral there on a Sunday will be all the more special for her family.

Mattie is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, J.C. and Kay Watts II; daughter & son-in-law, Shonia and Chris Delaune; brother & sister-in-law, Terry and Ginger Covington; brother, John Covington; grandchildren, Hunter Martin, Daniel Ridder, and Justin Ridder (Meaghan); great-granddaughters, Annaleigh Ridder and Adalyn Ridder; also Bella Rose, her beloved Yorkie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Frank Covington Sr. and  L.E. Meades Covington; brother, Leo Frank "Jr." Covington; and former husband, Malcom R. Watts.

Family and friends will be received at Red Oak Baptist Church, 28760 Red Oak Road, Livingston, Louisiana 70754 on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 12:30 pm until 3:30 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at Red Oak Baptist Church, on Sunday at 3:30 pm.

Interment will follow at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Livingston, Louisiana.
