Mary McKnight

Mary N. McKnight, age 61, peacefully passed away at her Holden residence on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 23, 1963, in Independence, Louisiana to the late Carter Stewart Sr. and Bonnie Maurer Stewart. Mary was a fighter from the beginning, from surviving her breast cancer battle to the very end of her earthly journey. She never lost her faith through her battles and trusted her lord and savior to keep her going. Mary enjoyed watching her TV, especially food network, coloring her beautiful pictures, getting her nails done and decorating for the holidays. When she wasn't able to decorate she conned her daughter, Tiffany, to do it for her. Mary was always in a good mood with her smile that could light up the room. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her and will be deeply missed. 

She leaves behind her husband of 42 years "aka" her Love Man, Gary McKnight; daughter, Tiffany McKnight; granddaughter, Olivia McKnight; siblings, Dallas Stewart Sr.(Christy), Lori Perry (Jesse), Annette Henderson (Kelby), and Carter Stewart Jr. (Connie); sister-in-laws, Eva Lard (Dwight), Carol Redfearn (Roger); brother-in-law, Ronald McKnight; best friends, Kim Carney and Gail Addison; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. 

Preceding her in death were her parents; mother-in-law, Eva McKnight; father-in-law, Martin McKnight; and her nephews, Dallas Stewart Jr. and Joshua Effler.

Family and friends are invited to Celebrate her Life on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond at 1:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Josh Payne and Pastor Dallas Stewart will officiate the services with interment to follow in Stewart Family Cemetery in Holden.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Elizabeth Fekete with Home Health who was also a good friend to her. As well as a special thanks to Bridgeway Hospice for all that they did for Mrs. Mary in the time that she was with them.
