Mary Maniscalco Whiddon

Mary was born November 8, 1924 in Independence, LA to the late Antonio and Rosalia Danna Maniscalco, and passed away April 17, 2021, at her home in Independence.  

She was 96 and a parishioner of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Independence.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Flora Messina and husband Mario Messina; grandchildren, Justin Messina and Jeremy Messina and fiancée Amanda Ockman; sister, Susie Lamonica; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elzie A. Whiddon; brothers, Dominick, Kelly, Tony, and Nurphy Maniscalco; and sisters, Stefana Lashouto, Josie Maniscalco, Sarah Maniscalco, and Jennie Lamonica.  

Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Friday, April 23, 2021 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 620 Third Street, Independence celebrated by Father Reuben Dykes.  Entombment will follow in Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum, Independence.
