Mary D. Gainey

Mary D. Gainey was born February 7, 1933, in Haleyville, AL, to the late Sherman and Gladys Caufield Dodd. A longtime resident of Albany, she passed away February 5, 2026, in Hammond. Mary was a nurse having worked at Seventh Ward Hospital and retiring from Hammond State School. She was a member of Albany Hungarian Presbyterian Church and enjoyed quilting and gardening. In her earlier years she helped on the family farm. Mary is survived by her children, Delores Cabeceiras, Jeanette Bates and Paul Olah, Jr.; sister, Sharon Rush; fourteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of first marriage, Paul Frank Olah, Sr., and husband of second marriage, Charles Gainey; children, Jeffery Olah and Elizabeth Smith; eight siblings; and four half siblings. Graveside services will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Hungarian Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Albany, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Theresa King officiating.
