Mary Felder Burge

Mary Felder Burge (December 20, 1961 - May 27, 2021) died at home on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the young age of 59.  She was the youngest of seven.  Mary loved life and always had a smile for you.  Some of her happiest times since moving back to Ponchatoula was camping with family and gathering at one of our homes surrounded by family and friends.  There was always a canasta game going and she was a fierce competitor.  Mary was a wonderful Mom to Chrissy and A.J.  She taught them the importance of family, hard work and to never give up on themselves.

Mary graduated from Ponchatoula High School and worked as a Chef for Aramark at Southeastern Louisiana University since her return to Louisiana in 2016.  Mary was a former longtime resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee and was a huge Tennessee Vols fan.  She loved giving Tennessee Vols clothes to her great niece and nephews knowing their Dad bleeds purple.  We are all going to miss her showing up in that awful orange jersey during college football season.  That was on Saturdays.  Come Sunday she was all about them Saints.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Christina Burge, son, A.J. Burge, mother, Yvonne Verneuil Felder, siblings, Cathy Felder Havel and husband David, Don Felder, Patricia Felder Tranter and husband Stephen, Theresa Felder DeVine and husband Johnny, and James "Wormy" Felder and wife Sharon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lester C. Felder, Jr., brother, Gordon Felder, sister-in-law, Kathie Felder, and nephew, Terry Hall.

"God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be.

So He wrapped his arms around you and He whispered,

“come to me”

You didn’t deserve what you went through,

so He gave you needed rest.  God’s garden must be beautiful,

He only takes the best."
