Mary Elizabeth Dixon (aka Marybeth), 73 of New Orleans, Louisiana was received into Heaven on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Belle Maison Nursing Center in Hammond, Louisiana.
Marybeth, was born on Monday October 15, 1951, in San Trace, Puerto Rico. She is preceded in death by her Father, Clinton Dixon, of Brewton, AL, and Mother, Mildred Hand Dixon, of Philadelphia, PA; her brother, John Dixon and three Sisters: Jeanette Dixon, Julianna Dixon and Mime Dixon.
Marybeth is survived by her brother, Robert Dixon and her three Children: Robin Dixon (grandchildren, Kassi and Justin Warren), Clinton Dixon (Divina Dixon, spouse; grandchildren, Arianne and Anika Dixon) and James Dixon (Tessa Dixon, spouse)
Other surviving family members include: Marybeth’s sister-in-law, Rayme Lin Douglas-Dixon; her Niece, Melissa Dixon Haldy (Greg Haldy, husband and Ashley Haldy, daughter) and her Nephew, Alexander Dixon (Alex Jr. Dixon, son).
Marybeth was a long-time resident of New Orleans. She grew up on State Street and attended Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans High School. She was a free spirit and enjoyed traveling, she was quite the wanderer. She spent many years working in the hotel industry in the French Quarter and the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans. One of her more memorable jobs was working at the New Orleans Fairgrounds. She loved working with and keeping the horses there, it made her happy. She also lived in Gentilly with her family.
Marybeth loved music, especially Willie Nelson. She was a really funny person, who would keep you on your toes with her wit and charm. She retained historical knowledge of random things would bring them up at unexpected times, pulling you in for more conversation. She was a kind person who loved her family and friends. So much so that she would never let go of her kids.
Rest in peace with Jesus Momma, you will always be in our hearts. We promise to raise our families with love and peace.
A private service will be held for family and close friends.
