Marvin Eugene Davis Jr.

Marvin Eugene Davis Jr., known fondly as Gene, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family in Hammond, Louisiana, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the age of 74. He was born on February 16, 1951, to the late Marvin and Geneva Gatlin Davis. Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Gene took great pride in building homes that will stand as a testament to his craftsmanship for years to come. When he wasn’t working, he found joy in casting a line and cheering on his beloved LSU Tigers, rarely missing a game. 

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda; their children, Brandie (Brandon), Tommy, and Trey (Kayla); and his cherished grandchildren, Brennan, Brinley, Aria, and Remy. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan Stevens and Joyce Groome, along with numerous family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Don Davis and sister, Judy Caves. 

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, located at 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, beginning at 9:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.

Gene’s legacy of love, dedication to his family, and passion for his work will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
