Martin "M. J." Gillman Iii

Martin "M.J" Gillman III, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the age of 69. He was born on Wednesday, July 15, 1953, in Madisonville, Louisiana, the son of the late Martin Gillman II and the late Edna Poche Gillman.

Mr. Gillman  retired from Dupont Chemical in 2006 after 25 years of service and became the owner and operator of Gillman Enterprises in 2007. He is a Life Member of the Ponchatoula Volunteer Fire Department and a Past President of the Ponchatoula Police Department Reserve. He coached Little League Baseball for many years. He had a deep passion for shooting and was a member of Tangi Gunners Shooting Club and a past member of Liberty Gun Club.

M. J.  is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marie Mizell Gillman, daughter, Melissa Gayle Gillman, daughter & son-in-law, Lindsey Michelle and Shaun Xiao, granddaughter, Lilianna Sophie Xiao, sisters and brothers-in-law, Martin Gayle and Dennis Dejean, Marlene and Paul Meunier, Barbara and Albert Hebert, Sandara  Recotta, and Eva Rose and Jerry Wayne Medlin.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

A Celebration of his life will be held in the funeral home chapel in Ponchatoula, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 beginning at 7:00 pm, with Avery Dixon officiating and Dayna O'Neill giving the eulogy.
