Marie Lois Sykes

Marie Lois Sykes of Manchac, Louisiana, passed away at Hammond Nursing Home on Monday, October 19, 2020.  She was born on November 23, 1938 in Chackbay, Louisiana. She lived most of her life in Manchac and waitressed at Middendorfs for many wonderful years.  Lois was a strong woman of faith.  She loved her family and loved helping people.  Lois was an amazing cook, and enjoyed her flowerbeds and sewing.

Lois is survived by her grandsons, Robert Earl Sykes, Jr. and Brandon Sykes; great-grandchildren, Landon Sykes, Brock Sykes, and Brynleigh Sykes; and her siblings, Skurley Nicholas (Judy), Steven Nicholas, Sr. (Doris), and Juanita Schexnayder.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Whitney and Laura Nicholas; her husband, EL Sykes; son, Robert Earl Sykes, Sr.; and siblings, Rodney Nicholas, Audrey Nicholas, Joyce False, Mercy Nicholas, and Shirley Newman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Friday, October 23, 2020, beginning at 8:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow in Sykes Family Cemetery, Holden, Louisiana.
