Marianna Monistere Mayeaux, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born on March 8, 1932, in Hammond, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Joseph Monistere and Ninfa Nicolosi Monistere.
Marianna lived almost a century and was a true witness to Christ’s love for others, devoting her life, time, service and gifts to caring for others, making family a priority, and sharing everything she had with those in need. She prayed the rosary daily and loved volunteering for St. Joseph Altars and Feast Days, Catholic Daughters of The Americas, where she was named a Charter Member, and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. While she forever loved camping with her beloved husband Rocky and their “camping buddies,” and traveling with her precious relatives years ago, her fondest memories most recently, were spent with her best friends, nieces and cousins, playing Pokeno, watching Lifetime movies, and telling anyone who would listen how much she was in love with Elvis! The love she received from her family brought her so much joy, and the caregivers who loved and cared for her became part of her family too. We will forever be grateful to Stacy Perrin, Sandra Salas, Angela Salas and Harmoni Pelletier, and the Bridgeway Hospice Team. Flowers were one of her favorite things ever, and those who loved her never missed an opportunity to adorn her home with them.
Marianna is survived by her daughters, Deborah M. Smith (Walter Jr.), Ninfa M. Boudreaux (Barry), Danita M. Mire (Gerald Jr.), Mona M. Pellichino (Russell), and Michelle Mayeaux, and sons, Kenneth Mayeaux (Geri), Emile "Joey" Mayeaux III (Joyce), and Brian Mayeaux (Patricia); 26 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; brother, Nat Monistere; sister, Mary "Bennie" Siciliano; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marianna was preceded in death by her husband, Emile J. "Rocky" Mayeaux Jr.; daughter, Judy Mayeaux Buono; and grandsons, Andrew Vasquez and Brandon Mayeaux.
