Maria Mejia

Maria Mejía, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, passed away at her home on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the age of 65. She was born on October 1, 1959, in Lagunillas, S.L.P., Mexico, the daughter of the late Agustin Rojas Hernandez and Cecilia Sanjuan Botello.

Maria is survived by her husband of 50 years, Berna Mejía; children, Raul Alejandro Mejía (Meregilda), Iris Viridiana Mejía, Bernandino Mejía, Victor Manuel Mejía, and Yesenia Mejía; grandchildren, Cristian Larri Mejía, Nayeli Hernandez, Hector Hernandez, David Hernandez, Alejandro Mejía, Victor Manuel Mejía, Olivia Mejía, and Logan Mejía; brothers, Modesto Botello, Lijio Botello, Celestino Botello, Eusesubio Rojas, and Benito Botello; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 7:00 pm. Visitation will follow until 9:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Panteón Bonifacio de la Localidad Casa Blanca in Valles, S.L.P., Mexico.
