Margaret Kirkland Wedgeworth peacefully passed away on July 4, 2023, in Folsom, Louisiana. Margaret was born on March 26, 1941, in Carriere, Mississippi to Houston Thomas Kirkland and Golda Pearson Kirkland. Margaret was married to Robert Lee “Sonny” Wedgeworth for 47 beautiful years and lived a happy life. Margaret is survived by her loving children Tanya W. Moore (Billy), Robbie W. McCarthy (Kevin), Charlie Wedgeworth (Jule), and Sabrina W. Hebert (Hank). She was an adoring grandmother to Bobby Wedgeworth (Lori), Jade W. Roger (Nick), Evan Wedgeworth, Bryton Hebert, Maggie Hebert, and her great-granddaughter Grae Roger. Margaret had the privilege of having a “bonus” family Mitchell, Nolan, Brian, Christian, Ian, Ashley, Kade, Lisa, and Doug, and an abundance of nieces and nephews. Margaret is also survived by her sisters Janice K. Martin and Pam K. Aultman, and brothers Richard Kirkland and Terry Kirkland.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, son James, and bonus grandson Cody. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Mary K. Burchfield, Charles Kirkland, Tommy Kirkland, Pat K. Miles, and Martha K. Brown.
Together, Margaret and Sonny faithfully served the Lord and were dedicated members of Bedico Baptist Church for many years. She taught Sunday school, served on committees, and worked with all ages to bring them to the Lord. Margaret was a dedicated Office Manager at Northlake Surgical Associates for 37 years. She was a leader, mentor, and respected figure to many of the employees. In her later years, Margaret was on the board of trustees for the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, LA. She enjoyed her time on the board and getting to know some of the residents at the home. Margaret enjoyed spending time in her garden, and was told she had the “most beautiful flower garden in the world”. She had an open-door policy and invited many people to enjoy her back porch swings, and home-cooked meals.
Relatives and friends of Margaret are invited to join the remembrance and celebration of her life at Bedico Baptist Church, 28156 LA-22, Ponchatoula, LA 70454 on July 8, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.
