Mamie Lou Neal Starns Starkey

Mamie Lou Neal Starns Starkey, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at the age of 88. She was born on January 23, 1934, in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Hollis Neal Sr. and Frances Wagner Neal. Mamie was a member of Old Zion Hill Baptist Church her entire life. She was a generous and loving mother and a friend to all.

Mamie is survived by her children, Bonnie Starns Recatto (Charlie Recatto), Barbara Starns Deris (Greg Deris), Alfred Starns (Wanda Starkey Starns), Leslie Starns (Colleen Duffy Starns), and Rhonda Starns Bourg (Brett Bourg); grandchildren, Jason Recatto (Tori Perrin Recatto), Aaron Recatto (Lola Cooper Recatto), Erika Deris Rodriguez, Barrett Deris (Amy Davezac Deris), Michael Deris, Christy McCabe, Brent Starns Sr., Jonathan Starns (Kayla Kesler Starns), Amanda Starns, Dylan Starns, Allison Starns, Jesse Bourg, Tabitha Bourg Ohlman (Timothy Ohlman), Virginia Bourg Rumuly (Mason Rumuly), Katrina Bourg Ohlman (Matthew Ohlman), Jared Bourg (Abigail Ricks Bourg), and Joel Bourg; great grandchildren, Lyla Recatto, Hailey Recatto, Levi Recatto, Gregory Rodriguez, Honoré Deris, Hazel Deris, Megan McCabe, Kaley McCabe, Brent Starns Jr., Joel Starns, Arlinn Starns, Oliver Starns, Jaiden Starns, Jaxon Starns, Jewel Starns, Joy Starns, Esther Ohlman, Grace Ohlman, Patience Ohlman, Titus Ohlman, and Tycho Rumuly; siblings, Hollis Neal Jr. (Jeanie Gainey Neal), Roy Neal (Bonnie Biggers Neal), Shirley Neal Laughery, Ronnie Neal (Barbara Cowart Neal), Rosemary Neal Locandro, and Betty Neal Coelho (Mike Coelho); sister-in-law, Esteen Glascock Neal Stewart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by her spouses, L.D. Starns and George Starkey; brother, C.B. Neal; and brothers-in-law, Ed Laughery and Nino Locandro.

Family and friends will be received at Old Zion Hill Baptist Church, 25890 Hwy 442, Independence, Louisiana 70443 on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A Funeral Service will begin on Saturday at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Old Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Independence, Louisiana.
