Luther H. Ergle
Luther H. Ergle, age 78, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023, at Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond, Louisiana. He was born on September 13, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Charles Dewey and Jewel Woods Ergle. Luther retired from Arrow Shirt Factory after 30 years of dedicated service. He would often be found watching his shows, Leave it to Beaver, Rawhide, Perry Mason, M.A.S.H., Green Acres, and Wagon Train (just to name a few), sitting on the porch enjoying his cigars, or reading the newspaper with a cup of coffee. Luther also loved spending time with family at family gatherings, was always willing to help out with running errands or to lend a helping hand. He was a kind soul with a heart of gold who is already dearly missed.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Vicki Lynn Ergle; son, James Ergle; sister-in-laws, Barbara Rottmann Ergle and Diane Silvey; nieces and nephews, Mark Reitz, Bryan Reitz, Tim Reitz, Bill Ergle, Russell Ergle, Lisa Land, Tracy Ergle, Jason Ergle, Karen Baker, David Smallwood and Kelly Smallwood; numerous great-nieces and nephews; as well as a cat named Millie.
Preceding him in death are his parents; siblings, David Ergle, Lewis Ergle and wife Bobbi, Kathleen Reitz and husband Charles, and Edward Ergle; brother-in-law, Tom Silvey; nephew, Rodger Reitz; and his best friend, W.T.Morris.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Luther's Funeral Service at Blood River Baptist Church on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Services will be officiated by his nephew, Joey Reitz, with interment will follow in Blood River Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home.
