Luther Morgan Broome, a native of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve, Louisiana, at the age of 79.
Born on May 18, 1946, in Canton, Mississippi, Luther was the son of the late Albert Morgan Broome and Mattie Holland Broome. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. A quiet and humble man, Luther found great joy in music and especially loved attending local concerts. He was known for his gentle spirit and steady presence, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Luther resided at the Jackson, Louisiana War Veterans Home for over 37 years, where he built meaningful friendships and was deeply respected by both residents and staff.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Darrel Marcotte; his aunt, Ruby Rivers; and numerous beloved cousins.
In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn LeTard, and his brother, Harvey Dean Broome.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
